FACIS® Level One Search Summary:
The Fraud and Control Information System (FACIS®) is a database search of records containing adverse actions against individuals and entities sanctioned in the healthcare field.
Level 1 – (OIG/GSA) searches Office of Inspector General (OIG) and General Services Administration (GSA) for excluded parties, as well as other federal agency sources.
Information Reported in FACIS® Level One: (but not limited to):
General Services Administration (GSA)
Excluded Parties List System (EPLS)
Level one – Includes Office of Inspector General (OIG) and General Services Administration (GSA) and the Federal Health care Entitlement Program or FHEP, and a mix of state office of Medical Inspector
General or Equivalent Exclusion or Debarment and State Contractor or Vendor Debarment Lists, varies by state’s ability to report.
In addition to all the federal data sourced by FACIS® Level 1, FACIS® Level 1 M also includes information as provided by all 26 participating sates in the Medicaid Inspector General or that state’s office equivalent.
This also includes any additional state-level debarment lists, Attorney General and Medicaid task force data.
As identified by federal guidelines and some state regulation, FACIS® Level 1 M meets minimal best practice standards for identifying restricted individuals; as such it is relied upon by most medical institutions.
