EMPLOYMENT BACKGROUND CHECKS
GCIC-Georgia Crime Information Center Criminal Records Checks
Criminal records originating in the state of Georgia are verified using a state wide system called the “Georgia Criminal Information Center” or “GCIC” for short.
GCIC turnaround times average 24 to 48 hrs which are much faster than the clerks of court in GA counties can provide.
Our criminal record “Smart Searches®” automatically add a Georgia state level (GCIC) search on any applicant with a Georgia address history within the past seven years.
Access to these records requires that we submit a copy of the release signed by the applicant. (Our standard release, which should be signed by all applicants before any background check is ordered.)
We can not request criminal records from the state of Georgia until we have received the signed release from the employer and forwarded the signed release to the state of Georgia.
We use the Georgia Criminal Information Center (GCIC) to verify potential criminal records originating in the state of GA as this method is the most comprehensive way to verify records there as well as the fastest (usually the same day) GCIC requires a signed release (not state specific) which must contain certain language mainly in that the applicant certifies they have received a copy of their “Summary Of Rights Under The FCRA” (this is the bold print language in the center of our release)
GCIC continues to serve as the chief provider of criminal justice information services in Georgia by providing officials and agencies in the criminal justice community with round-the-clock access to information needed to fulfill their responsibilities.
